Time and attendance for factories

Three shifts a day, dozens of workers through the same door at six in the morning, and a forklift driver whose licence expired last week. Hours, shifts and certifications in one place.

What RayClock does for you

A kiosk at the factory entrance

An NFC-capable Android tablet is set up as a kiosk, and each worker taps a personal card. The worker’s name shows on screen to confirm — no phone, no password.

Morning, evening and night

Define shift templates once, assign people in the weekly grid and copy a whole week. Once published, employees see the schedule in the app.

Overtime by the shift

On a day with a shift in a published schedule, the day’s quota is the length of the shift and anything beyond it counts as overtime. A shift that runs past midnight counts as one shift.

Those who come in 15 minutes early

In the work profile you decide what happens to time before the shift starts or after it ends: count it as overtime, or trim it to the shift.

Certifications with an expiry date

A professional licence, safety training or medical clearance is kept in the employee file with an expiry date, and you get an alert before it expires.

Equipment issued to employees

Tools, uniforms, access cards and keys are recorded in the employee file. When someone leaves, you see what hasn’t been returned yet.

A working day at the factory

  1. ThursdayThe production manager builds the week’s schedule from morning, evening and night templates. The system warns about anyone who marked themselves unavailable, is on leave, or lacks a certification the shift requires.
  2. 05:50, factory gateThe morning shift comes in. Each worker taps a card at the entrance kiosk and their name shows on screen.
  3. 06:30, production officeThe shift manager sees who has arrived and who is missing — only on their own line, set up as a department.
  4. 23:00, night shiftThe shift runs past midnight and counts as one shift. If someone tapped in and forgot to tap out, the manager gets an open-punch alert.
  5. Month-endHours, overtime, Shabbat and holidays are calculated. Review the consolidated report, lock the month and export to payroll.

Night work and overtime at the factory

Under the Hours of Work and Rest Law, night work is a workday with at least two hours between 22:00 and 06:00, and the regular night workday is 7 hours — every hour beyond that is overtime. Under the general overtime permit, a workday including overtime is capped at 12 hours. We set out the numbers in how many hours you may work in a day.

In RayClock, on a day with a scheduled shift the day’s quota is the length of the shift. So for night work, check that the shift template and the setting for time after the shift ends reflect a 7-hour day. Breaks are set in the work profile — see breaks at work.

This is general information, not legal advice. Collective agreements, extension orders and personal contracts may set different, sometimes better, terms.

Practical questions

Do we need to buy a dedicated time clock for the entrance?

No. The kiosk is an NFC-capable Android tablet set up in kiosk mode and connected to the internet. Activation is included in the subscription, NFC cards are ordered separately, and the tablet has to be compatible.

What if the internet at the entrance goes down?

The kiosk needs an internet connection to send a punch. A punch that didn’t go through is completed later with a reason, and the fix is saved in the change log.

Can we prevent assigning someone without a valid certification?

When assigning manually, the system warns and the decision stays with the manager. For an open shift that requires a certification, an employee without a valid one can’t take it.

Does every shift manager see the whole factory?

No. Set up a department per line or wing, and a manager sees only the departments they manage and those below them. The system admin sees everything.

Which languages can employees use?

Hebrew, English and Russian. At the kiosk the worker just taps a card and sees their name on screen.
